Solar energy, currently contributing approximately 100–150 MW of grid-connected capacity along with expanding off-grid systems, is gaining momentum through private investments and government-led initiatives aimed at achieving universal electricity access by 2030. With abundant solar resources averaging 5–6 kWh/m²/day, Uganda presents strong potential for renewable energy expansion, reduced dependence on hydropower, and sustainable economic growth.
