Avie Marucot: Where Old Hollywood Glamour Meets a Sustainable New Era

An emerging fashion designer from Rizal debuts her fashion collection called The Maiden

Long before the runway, there were notebook pages.

As a quiet student, Avie Marucot found her earliest form of self-expression in the pages of her notebooks, where she would sketch princess gowns and dream up silhouettes of her own. What began as a simple pastime gradually became the foundation of a creative language—one rooted in femininity, imagination, and the timeless allure of fashion.

Years later, that childhood fascination culminated in The Maiden, Avie’s debut fashion collection, presented on July 15, 2026, in Antipolo City.

The title The Maiden speaks to beginnings—the first chapter of a new creative journey, and the enduring magic of experiencing something for the very first time. For Avie, a first collection is more than a debut; it is a moment meant to be remembered.

Drawing inspiration from the glamour of 1950s Old Hollywood, Avie reinterprets the era’s romance and sophistication through a contemporary lens. The collection balances nostalgia with modern wearability, bringing dramatic silhouettes and feminine details into a fresh, distinctly personal aesthetic.

Among the collection’s highlights is a white lace tulle gown adorned with delicate blue floral appliqués, an ethereal statement that captured attention with its romantic elegance while remaining surprisingly wearable. Another look plays with contrast through an inverted black-and-white ball gown skirt, elevated with black floral appliqués. Editorial yet versatile, the piece demonstrates Avie’s interest in transforming classic eveningwear into something more unexpected.

Completing the collection is a mermaid skirt paired with organza and a black lace corset, embracing a darker, more dramatic interpretation of femininity. Together, the pieces create a collection that moves effortlessly between romantic, theatrical, and contemporary.

Yet beneath the glamour lies a deeper philosophy.

Sustainability is central to Avie’s approach to fashion. Every piece in The Maiden was created using deadstock fabrics—materials given a new life rather than left to become part of the growing problem of textile waste.

For Avie, sustainability does not mean sacrificing beauty. Instead, it invites a different kind of creativity: one that considers the story of a fabric before it becomes a garment, and where it might go after.

She believes that beautiful materials deserve more than a single moment. Leftover fabrics can become future garments, accessories, or entirely new creative projects. Through repurposing and thoughtful design, Avie hopes to create fashion that is not only visually compelling but also conscious of its environmental footprint.

From the quiet sketches of a young dreamer to the debut of a fully realized collection, The Maiden marks the beginning of Avie Marucot’s fashion story—one where timeless glamour, modern femininity, and sustainability find their place on the same runway.
