Banwa Private Island Partners with Anantara Vacation Club to Advance Sustainable Travel

Banwa Private Island, a conservation-led luxury destination in the Philippines, has joined forces with Anantara Vacation Club, Asia’s leading vacation ownership programme. The partnership introduces Banwa to Anantara’s Platinum Escapes portfolio, available to Elite Platinum, Elite Royal, Sapphire, and Prestige members.
Located within a recognised Important Shark and Ray Area (ISRA), Banwa Private Island is home to diverse marine life and serves as a nesting site for the critically endangered Hawksbill turtle. Through the Aquos Foundation, guest stays contribute directly to marine research, habitat protection, and community initiatives. The island is also maintained as mosquito-free without chemical spraying and follows a farm-to-table approach, sourcing produce from its own organic farm and local partners.
“Banwa Private Island is a sanctuary of refined seclusion and world-class luxury, with a meaningful commitment to sustainability through the Aquos Foundation, offering an eco-conscious luxury retreat. This is an amazing fit with the Anantara Vacation Club lifestyle,” said Winston Tsang, COO of Anantara Vacation Club.
Banwa Private Island has been recognised internationally with awards including Private Island of the Year by Destination Deluxe and The Philippines’ Best Beach, Island or Upcountry Resort in the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific.

Manila, Philippines (8 September 2025) – Banwa Private Island has entered into a partnership with Anantara Vacation Club, Asia’s leading vacation ownership programme, extending access to one of the Philippines’ most distinctive private island experiences for a select group of its members.

The collaboration places Banwa Private Island within Anantara Vacation Club’s Platinum Escapes portfolio, a curated collection of destinations reserved for Elite Platinum, Elite Royal, Sapphire, and Prestige members. The alliance reflects a growing trend in global travel: guests increasingly seek out experiences that balance privacy and comfort with environmental responsibility and cultural connection.

Located in northern Palawan, Banwa Private Island sits within a designated Important Shark and Ray Area (ISRA), recognised internationally as a vital habitat for endangered marine species. The island also provides nesting grounds for the critically endangered Hawksbill turtle. Conservation programmes are led by the Aquos Foundation, which partners with local and international institutions on biodiversity research, habitat protection, and community engagement. Every stay contributes directly to these initiatives.

The island has also adopted innovative approaches to sustainability. It is maintained as a naturally mosquito-free environment without the use of chemical spraying. Dining follows a farm-to-table model, with produce sourced from an onsite organic farm and trusted local suppliers, strengthening ties with surrounding communities while reducing environmental impact.

“Banwa Private Island is a sanctuary of refined seclusion and world-class luxury, with a meaningful commitment to sustainability through the Aquos Foundation, offering an eco-conscious luxury retreat. This is an amazing fit with the Anantara Vacation Club lifestyle,” explains Winston Tsang, COO of Anantara Vacation Club. “We are dedicated to providing our Club Points Owners with exceptional experiences that become cherished memories, and Banwa Private Island offers a personal escape, from yoga overlooking the Sulu Sea to stargazing beneath some of the clearest skies in the Philippines.”

Simon Turner, Sales & Marketing Director of Banwa Private Island, added: “We chose Anantara Vacation Club because of its reputation for curating experiences that are authentic and globally relevant. Its members reflect the same discerning audience who value purposeful travel. This partnership allows us to welcome them to Palawan, Philippines to engage with the island not only as a retreat but as a place with a greater purpose.”

Banwa Private Island’s dedication to conservation and hospitality excellence has been recognised internationally. The island was named Private Island of the Year by Destination Deluxe, awarded The Philippines’ Best Beach, Island or Upcountry Resort in the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific, and featured for three consecutive years in Robb Report’s “The 50 Greatest Luxury Hotels on Earth.”

This partnership highlights how the future of travel is evolving, with guests seeking experiences that combine exclusivity, cultural respect, and environmental responsibility.
