Midori Climate Partner Pte. Ltd. (Headquarters: Singapore) has partnered with CSNC Agriculture Co., Ltd., an agricultural commodity trading firm that recently launched a cashew nut processing factory in Kampong Thom, Cambodia, to initiate a biomass waste management project. This project will produce biochar to improve degraded soils while generating carbon credits, promoting sustainable agriculture, and supporting climate change mitigation efforts. Through its application as a soil amendment, the project is expected to enhance soil quality and generate 10,000t CO2e of carbon credits annually from carbon removal activities. This initiative will contribute to Cambodia\u2019s sustainable industrial development and environmental protection.<\/p>\n
The project will primarily
\nuse cashew nut shells as biomass waste to produce biochar. In addition to
\ncashew nut shells, the project is actively seeking other sources of biomass
\nwaste within Cambodia. This includes pruned branches from rubber and cashew nut
\nplantations, rice husks, durian shells, cassava residues, and mango seeds.
\nBiomass suppliers who contribute to the project will be given priority for
\nreceiving biochar-based organic fertilizer, which can be used to increase crop
\nyields and reduce chemical fertilizer usage.<\/p>\n
The biochar production
\nmachinery, a pyrolysis device, will be installed and operational the first half
\nof 2025. The project is currently seeking donors and corporate carbon credit
\nbuyers to support its early-stage development. We welcome partners committed to
