First, the launch of TROOPERKS — a platform-funded welfare programme giving gig workers cancellation compensation of up to 50% and private coverage through VSure Tech and HeyDoc International, at no cost to the worker. Second, CEO Joshua Tan Soo Tjan has been appointed as one of 26 inaugural members of the Majlis Penasihat Gig (MPGig), Malaysia’s national Gig Advisory Council under the Ministry of Human Resources, effective 1 April 2026.

As Malaysia’s Gig Workers Act 2025 (Akta Pekerja Gig 2025 — Akta 872) enters full enforcement, TROOPERS Innovation Sdn. Bhd. announces two milestones that reflect the platform’s commitment to the welfare and dignity of Malaysia’s flexible workforce.

TROOPERKS is TROOPERS’ structured gig worker welfare programme, funded entirely through the platform’s own 2% Platform Fee — meaning workers receive coverage at no additional cost to themselves. TROOPERKS launches with two pillars:

01 — Cancellation Compensation — Up to 50%

One of the most acute financial pressures faced by gig workers is the sudden loss of income when a confirmed shift is cancelled at short notice. With TROOPERS, if a confirmed shift is cancelled by a hiring manager, the affected worker receives up to 50% of their expected earnings — immediately, and without requiring any dispute process or tribunal. TROOPERS absorbs this cost directly. As the community has long said: “No jobs, also salary must be paid.” TROOPERS has built this principle into the platform.

02 — Private Protection Coverage

TROOPERKS provides a private welfare layer for workers. Through partnerships with VSure Tech (personal accident insurance) and HeyDoc International (24/7 teleconsultation and e-healthcare, up to RM50/month), workers gain access to meaningful protection from day one — with all costs borne by the platform, not the worker.

Throughout April 2026, TROOPERKS is available at no charge to all active Talents on the platform. The 2% Platform Fee — which funds the programme in full — activates from 1 May 2026.

Joshua Tan, CEO and Co-Founder of TROOPERS, has been appointed as one of 26 inaugural members of the Majlis Penasihat Gig (MPGig), Malaysia’s Gig Advisory Council under the Ministry of Human Resources, effective 1 April 2026. “Being part of the MPGig is both an honour and a responsibility — one we will use to advocate for policies that make flexible work genuinely dignified for every Malaysian who depends on it,” he said

This press release has also been published on VRITIMES

TROOPERS has announced two developments coinciding with the enforcement of Malaysia’s Gig Workers Act 2025.
